Below are some handy tips and resources that might be helpful when you’re creating something for the magazine, or indeed for something else!
When you write your article you may have a very clear idea of how you want it to look, so make sure you let one of our Editors know! We have fairly short turnarounds from article submission deadlines to sending a near final draft to be proofed so the earlier we know the better!
While we don’t use formally published reference lists, when referring to figures, we encourage that the reference is worked into the sentence such as, “This would be a wildly unpopular move, as according to the Evening Standard, fewer than 3 in 10 people support this change”. For online articles, we can hyperlink sources to the relevant text.
We strongly encourage the use of reputable and consistent statistics where possible.

We can only publish images that you have taken yourself, taken by someone else with permission (preferably in written form like an email), or images that are available on creative commons licenses. The best sources for these are Pixabay, Pexels and Unsplash, which have a wide range of images for any article.
Our talented illustration team may also be able to make custom images for your article, but make sure you speak to us early as you can to give them enough time to work their magic! You can request an illustration by speaking to the relevant section editor.
