All in Student Life

Viva Volunteering

Recently I’ve been thinking about the people, places and experiences that have nurtured my growth throughout dental school. Pulling it all together, a common thread comes to the forefront, having shaped not only the dental student I’ve come to be, but also the identity I’ve come to inhabit. This impact has been made by volunteering.

Design 101 with Harris

Seeing as many of us have possibly more time on our hands right now, it seems like the perfect time to learn a new skill or get better at something you’ve always wanted to. In that vein, we thought this would be the perfect time to launch a new series of articles aimed at celebrating the skills that members of our community have and maybe teaching each other what they know!

What should you watch during self-isolation?

Through the awfulness of the COVID outbreak, one positive of social distancing is to be able to catch up on all the TV shows we keep meaning to watch. Over 170 students and alumni came together to celebrate the history, achievements and community that exists at BLBC. Current and previous members of the club enjoyed a drinks reception in the courtyard, followed by dinner and shared stories of their time rowing at Barts and The London.

Much To Do Around London

I don’t know about you, but constant drizzle puts me off getting groceries, let alone entertainment, so these (indoor) picks for the winter are more or less arranged geographically- saving effort AND money. Perfect, given I expect to be short of both money and effort at the end of the year! That said, arrange a day out from anything here, and at minimum you’ll have been distracted from work for a day...

Breakfast on a Budget

Located in the heart of Bethnal Green just 3 shops away from E Pellicci, Cafe 338 is a typical ‘greasy spoon’ cafe. Serving up a hearty traditional English breakfast and many more delights making up one of the biggest menus I’ve ever seen.
